While visiting the US this summer, we also went to LA to see our family who lives there, including our new nephew, Milton, and his parents, Uncle Sam and Aunt Barb.

Though there were many tempting things to do in the city, we planned to take it rather easy given this being a family visit with many exciting milestones to celebrate.
As mentioned before, my in-laws, Martha and John, had recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary, which we wanted to honor as a family.

Additionally, John had recently turned 80.

And of course there was the birth of Milton, our baby nephew, to celebrate.

With family living in Santa Monica, we landed in a rental house in Venice Beach.

While staying a mere ten minute drive to the Pacific, LA captured my heart with her finest attribute – the beach!

Highlights included the many celebrations, the Santa Monica pier with the boys, boogie boarding at the beach and entertaining in our rental house – which included a pool and backyard campfires.

We also visited an old friend, Dave’s mentor, Mary, who was delightful as always.

We met my sister-in-law’s family.

And we continued to shop for essentials including new bathing suits and Lego sets (essential?) at the neighborhood Target while we waited for our luggage, which never arrived.

It was lovely spending time with the Lubells, sharing small moments like bedtime stories, morning walks and extra pots of coffee.

We look forward to having an excuse to return to CA. And are glad we can.

Wonderful times!!!
