Insta-Obsessed

I have taken a little break from this blog to focus more on my love of both Berlin and photography.

Reichstag flying the Union Jack on the day that Prince Charles and Camilla visited

I’d say that while I’m am somewhat of an amateur at both, it hasn’t slowed my desire to explore each more intensely.

Hanukkah Menorah at the Brandenburger Tor

While I am taking photos exclusively with my Smartphone, my goal is to invest in a camera next year (perhaps my 45th birthday present to myself next month) to really tap into this life-long hobby of mine. One that brings me so much joy as well as an outlet for self expression.

I have also recently started a Life Coach Certification program with Martha Beck. If you know anything about me, you will know that I’ve never taken education – the key to reaching my dreams – lightly.

And you will also know that whenever I’ve been faced with a challenge or new skills, I usually do a deep dive.

Rower on the Tegeler See

My friend, Karen, likes to compare me to a freight train that is not easily stopped once I’ve set my mind to something. I can’t really argue with her.

And this 9-month Wayfinder Life Coach course is no exception.

Neue Synagogue

Through Martha‘s advice, I started focusing on my life and tried to pinpoint something that I have spent at least 10,000 hours doing.

KulturBrauerei this Fall

Through this exercise, she says that a true calling will emerge. Perhaps something that hasn’t been apparent before.

After eliminating mundane tasks such as brushing my teeth (yes, I’ve been known to do this three or four times a day), I started realizing that throughout my life, taking photos and sharing them either on-line, in albums or as gifts has been something that has always warmed my heart.

Heinrich-Schliemann-Oberschule

I‘ve just been too scared to admit it. Because then I could be judged, compared, critiqued.

Tiergarten

While I haven‘t had formal training (other than a two hour smart phone course I took earlier this year https://atomic-temporary-144439175.wpcomstaging.com/2020/01/23/photo-class/) or anything more than a simple point-and-shoot camera to use, I have found joy in this simple pleasure.

The Cube

So I have recently announced on Instagram (why not?!?) that in addition to being a blogger, a yogi, a traveler and a friend, that I am also a photographer.

Spreekanal

So here I am. Sharing a few Berlin shots with you and inviting you to come to my Instagram page to see more.

I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings and I look forward to sharing it with you.

  1. I’m happy that you are finding things that are just yours! Wish we were together to talk about what you’re learning in coaching class. You know I love that stuff.
