Life Adventure

Blogging has been a bit more sporadic for me this year partially because of a new adventure I ’d like to share with you today.

Although many of you know what I have been up to this past year, some of you may not or may not have been updated recently. I’m sharing this because I would very much appreciate your support in my new endeavor. Let me explain.

Last year, partially through changing times with the Corona virus lockdown and partially because our children were getting older and more independent, I found myself being ready for more.

You see, over the past decade I have often thought about pursuing a Life Coaching career, but always doubted myself or found some excuse as to why I was not “seasoned” enough to be able to offer “sage” advice to help others.

What did I know?

Since then, I have discovered that while I do have valuable knowledge and experience, I more importantly found the confidence to own the parts of me that help to make a good Life Coach; Curiosity, Compassion and Caring.

I know that many of you have heard of the term “Life Coach” but aren’t quite clear about what a Life Coach actually does.

In a very general sense, a Life Coach helps people clarify and articulate what they want most from life and how best to achieve it. More specifically, coaching helps people get past their obstacles in order to create the results they want in life, work, relationships and spiritual growth.

Coaching is like having a “personal trainer for your soul.” We don’t tell people what they should do; rather we ask powerful questions in an effort to help the client find the answers that always lie within.

Coaching is particularly helpful if you feel out of balance, i.e.; working too much, playing too little (or the opposite); if you feel something is missing but can’t put your finger on it; if you want to pursue a new career or change jobs; if you are facing a life transition either by choice or not; or perhaps you simply want more joy in your life.

Let me clarify that coaching is no substitute for therapy. It is not for people with serious emotional problems.

Coaching is about creating results, not dealing with crises. It focuses on the future and, as a result, can assist to change attitudes resulting from past experience.

I just completed an intensive year-long training program, Wayfinder Life Coach Training, with Martha Beck (who has published several New York Times bestsellers and earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard, all in social sciences) and have recently earned my certification.

Having said this, should you know someone who may benefit from coaching, please give him/her my email address:

Or direct them to my website:

I‘m also on Instagram.

I work virtually (we all have seemed to have gotten used to this way of connecting over the past year and a half, I think!) so location is never an issue. All client names and concerns will be treated confidentially.

Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to read this post and for referring my services when and where appropriate.

Mostly, I thank you for your friendship and support over the years.

Fondly, Shannon

  1. Congrats Shannon! This sounds rewarding and wonderful. I’m very excited for your new adventure. Best wishes on your new journey helping others. As a nurse, I see many, many people who would benefit from a life coach. On the medical side, I try to be that for them, but there are some people that I wonder how they even make it through one day. There is a big need for this service! Good luck to you! Best, Kara

    1. Dear Kara,

thank you for this. 🙏🏼 The encouragement is much appreciated.

I don’t doubt your kindness towards your patients. They are lucky to have your care.

Now that I’ve been coached regularly for over a year, I can attest to the power of having someone hold untroubled space for what on one’s mind.

I look forward to continuing to provide that for my clients for many years to come. It’s an amazing vocation.

      Warmly,
      Shannon
