As promised, Ben and I returned to Britzer Garten only two days after our first visit, this time with Dave and Isaac.

It was a lovely day, sunny and 73, and we brought a full picnic.
{History and highlights of the garden}
We entered through the main gate this time and were immediately greeted by beds and beds of colorful flowers.

Our goal was to find “the hill”. (See Britzer Garten: Part I for details.) Along the way, we spotted the giant fish in the pond and heard baby birds crying in the reeds along its bank.

Dave and I set up our picnic blanket and the classic picnic of sandwiches at the base of the bright green hill, while the boys ran, rolled and chased each other down the hill.

{Picnic time and cuddles}
After a post-picnic game of tag, we wandered over to see the farm animals including the cute and cuddly sheep and goats (at least the baby goats were cute and cuddly).

{No playground, no problem. Sculptures are fine alternatives.}

{Practicing the fine art of lounging}
After a stop at the ice cream kiosk, we headed toward the tulip garden. While several kinds of tulips had already bloomed, the majority were about a week away from showing off their majestic colors.

While the boys complained of boredom a few times, the trip was definitely a nice relief from staying in the city center. I think they had more fun than they cared to admit. At least mom was happy!
