On Thursday, we rented a car share for 24 hours and used it to head towards the beautiful Treptow park along the Spree River.

The snack stand was open for beverages and cakes. The boys were treated to Fritz Colas.

We sat on the island having a picnic and watching the swans drift by. It was perfect!

We next headed towards the Soviet War Memorial, with a brief stop to climb some trees along the way.

The Memorial was massive and certainly very impressive. I had lived in Washington DC for seven years and, in my humble opinion, this monument rivals many of those seen in DC.

The boys took advantage of the hill at the statue to have some fun.
It was so good for our moods to get everyone outside and exploring the city. While the park was busy, especially on the walkway along the Spree River, people kept their distance with respect.
