While my mom was in Berlin, Dave and I took the opportunity to head out on a weekend excursion without the boys.

{Weekend getaway to Croatia}

Using the Weekend.com app, we booked a beach resort just outside of Dubrovnik, Croatia, a quick two hour flight from Berlin.

The water was chilly, but crystal clear. We spent many hours pool side listening to our Audible books. It was perfect!

We didn’t realize we would be amongst nearly two millions tourists going there this year. We soon learned that an HBO show called Game is Thrones, or GOT, was the reason nearly a quarter of the visitor came.

Having never seen the show, we stuck mostly to the pool and beach of Mlini and ventured to Dubrovnik for one afternoon and evening to take a non-GOT history walking tour booked through AirBnB.

After our tour, we had dinner and a walk around town. After exploring a winding street on the periphery, we stumbled across an open air showing of Spider-Man, which was to start in two minutes time. After paying €8 for both of our tickets, we settled into the film (in English with Croatian subtitles).

As the weather turned with the lightening increasing across the sky, we sensed rain. Half way through the film it down-poured and we soon exited with our umbrellas and headed back to the hotel.

It was a super relaxing weekend that we cherished. And we’d definitely recommend Croatia as long as you don’t mind being amongst a lot of tourists.
