Flu Shots

Last week, I found myself traveling on the U2 with a syringe filled with a flu shot.

While at our doctor’s office the day before, Dave picked up a flu shot form for me, as I had an appointment with them the next day to check my Vitamin D level and to get the flu shot. He said that I would need to bring it to the doctor in order to get the shot. What luck!

While having coffee that morning with my friend Lucy, another Kita mom, I mentioned my appointment and how I would be getting a flu shot. I showed her my slip of paper and she told me that I would have to go to the Apotheke (pharmacy) before the appointment, pick up the flu shot and bring it to my doc.

I had no idea. I thought I simply needed to bring the sheet with me and would get the shot. Luckily, Lucy came with me to the Apotheke, explained everything and €23 later, out I walked with my cold bag with my shot inside.

Another lesson on life here in Berlin.

During my appointment, I mentioned to my doc that the boys still needed a pediatrician and that I’d like them to also get a flu shot. She wrote them flu prescriptions and said that they would be able to get them at her office.

After school, we picked up their shots and after a lot of crying and resistance, they also got their shots. Whew!

{Well deserved trip for ice cream at Hokey Pokey post flu shot trauma!}
