Our neighborhood

While video chatting with my dad this week, I showed him the area I was in. I was at KaDeWe, the second largest department store in Europe, with Isaac enjoying an afternoon gelato and espresso.

This is in the former capitalist West. Bombed and rebuilt. And not very historic. Or pretty.

He remarked on that fact and I assured him that our neighborhood in Prenzlauer Berg, in the former east, is more historic and prettier with Altbau (old buildings), like the one we live in.

So this morning, on my way home from walking back from dropping Ben off at school, I took some pictures of old, under construction and quite modern buildings within a few blocks of our apartment around Arnimplatz. There are prettier ones around for sure. But this is a sample of what we see each day.
