We woke the little angels up early so we could go to Karl’s Strawberry Farm fun park outside of Berlin. {Google Chrome’s translation — what!?!} We took public transport together, Dave getting off one stop after us so that he could mail the Guteshein paperwork for the boys, while the boys and I got offContinueContinue reading “Friday fun park”

Lazy day
There’s nothing the boys like more after a lot of hustle and bustle than a lazy day. And that’s exactly what we got today. {view outside our kitchen window} At some point, Isaac came into our room last night complaining that his legs hurt. We know these “growing pains” well. They are not uncommon afterContinueContinue reading “Lazy day”
Wishful Wednesday
Everyone is sleeping a lot here. We’ve been on the go quite a bit. But I kind of think the cooler weather sans humidity and no air conditioning is proving to be better for our sleep. Whatever the reason, we all slept in today. {little chef cooked everyone eggs for breakfast} After breakfast, we tookContinueContinue reading “Wishful Wednesday”
Tidy Tuesday
Today, we had a house cleaner that our new Berlin friend, Sarah, recommended. Doris, from Kenya, stayed for six hours scrubbing the apartment from head to toe. She even cleaned the plastic chairs on our terrace until they were squeaky clean. It sure does feel good in here. {picture of our living room} We alsoContinueContinue reading “Tidy Tuesday”
Berlin bureaucracy
Monday was a busy day spent trying to establish ourselves in our new city. After a little iPad fun, we were on our way. When living in Germany, Switzerland and many European countries, one must register with their city. This must be done within two weeks of arrival in Berlin. Luckily, we were in theContinueContinue reading “Berlin bureaucracy”
Sunday funday
Beautiful weather made for a full day outside. Before Isaac woke up {orange bedroom curtain effect} Ben and I went to three playgrounds, all within a quick walk from our apartment. Then we met some more new America friends in Berlin at the Flohmarkt (flea market) at Mauer (wall) Park. We had lunch and funContinueContinue reading “Sunday funday”
US-German connection
Today was a study in the juxtaposition of cultures. Went for my morning walk in my Buffalo Bills hat past the Kulturbrauerei to pick up Schlomo’s bagels made by Eddie from Michigan. {Kulturbrauerei} During the walk, I saw a basketball tournament with funk music playing on the loudspeaker. {Mauerpark} Met some new American friends, whoContinueContinue reading “US-German connection”
Jet lag
We’ve been staying close to home today. Did a lot of unpacking in our apartment. To help acclimate to our new time zone, we walked to a Biergarten for dinner. {Prater Biergarten Berlin} This was followed up by loads of playground time at the park across the street from our apartment. In fact, it’s afterContinueContinue reading “Jet lag”
Home
Really? After 12 years of dreaming and a solid year of planning, we, along with all of our luggage, have made it to Berlin! 09:15 Berlin time 03:15 Atlanta time Now in the cab on our way to Schönfließer Straße. Auf Wiedersehen, Berlin Lubells {all of our bags outside of our apartment}
Third flight
Hanging strong. Got some refreshment at the lounge in Amsterdam. Now off to Berlin! Oh, and Dave’s work visa worked. When the immigration agent asked us how long we’d be traveling in Europe, he flipped to the visa page, corrected himself and said,”Oh, you live in Germany.” I think this might actually work!!
