Even though we are fulfilling a dream that we’ve had for many years, this move has still been difficult at times. I don’t want to paint a picture that it’s been nothing but unicorns and roses.

The boys have left the only home they’ve ever known, their friends, their schools, their neighborhood, most of their possessions, and have moved across the globe to a new place.
We have been spending a lot of time together as a family, which has been great, but not without its challenges. And it’s summer vacation, which most parents agree posses its own challenges.
The boys are playing together. But they are also fighting. Ben more with words, Isaac more with fists. For Isaac, it’s been an especially hard time as he prefers consistency. But if we can get the boys outside and moving, they do cope better. And so we do. As much as we can.
Since it is going to be another hot day, we go to a splash pad playground of sorts in Plänterwald near the Spree.

We got there and found a little oasis in the forrest, with kids of various sizes playing in the water. Several with either no clothes on or only in their diapers. There were also two playgrounds with sand that the boys were immediately drawn to.

Our sitter, Sophia, watched the boys so the three grown ups could go out.

With hundreds of thousands of people in Berlin for Christopher Street Day, and a sudden downpour, we detoured on our original plans to go to a Biergarten and had beers at Tiergarten Quelle, a traditional German bar underneath the S Bahn, instead.

With the rain over and it finally feeling cool outside, we walked through the Tiergarten to our original destination, Cafe am Neüen See.

We came home via taxi with a route that took us underneath the Tiergarten and the Spree.
With cooler weather, we were looking forward to better sleep.
