Saturday surprise

I’ll cut to the chase. The big surprise, at least to us, is that we finally got our German phone numbers!

After registering with the city, scheduling an appointment with the bank, visiting the bank days later to get a bank account, transferring funds to the account the following day and visiting the cell phone store, we have them!

Please, if you would like to know our new numbers, email me.

Let’s back up to the beginning of the day…

{Isaac snuggling in our bed}

We headed out on the M1 Tram to Hackesche Höfe to meet our first out of town visitors, Salvatore and Elizabeth, Italians from Brussels. Dave and Salvatore do similar work and met last month in Brussels. They were in town for the weekend touring and visiting friends. A lovely time.

Afterwards, we walked through the historic courtyards until we went to a toy store and a candy store. Isaac got a juggling ball set and Ben got peach candy, which we later discovered were in the shapes of bottoms and boobies!

{Guess who didn’t want to pose for the camera}

Afterwards, we took the S Bahn one stop to Alexanderplatz to do some shopping.

First stop, cell phones. While our order was processing, I headed up to Galeria Kaufhof to pick up a set of twin duvet covers and a fitted sheet for our bed as we were one set short at the apartment.

After we got our phones set up with our helpful sales associate, Shirley, we headed to the electronics mecca, Saturn.

Here, we got a printer, Britta filters and an extension cord.

Needing a break, we got a snack.

{Which Wurst? Curry Wurst}

{Isaac liked the Pommes mit Mayo}

I preferred the Fanta Radler! Not the best, but tasty on a sunny day.

We then headed home, talked about the week’s schedule and what needed to be done and waited for our friends from Atlanta to come to the apartment to head out for dinner.

After a little mix up on street names, they made it to our apartment. Our first guests to the flat! Our first guests from the US!

I’ve know Lissa for several years as my chiropractor and over time we’ve become quite close.

Tonight was the first time we’ve met her husband, Glenn. He and Dave grew up close to one another outside of Philly and know many of the same places.

We walked to an Israeli/Palestinian vegetarian restaurant, Kanaan, with a Biergarten just a block from our apartment and had a lovely meal together.

We then headed backwards home (at 10:00) and had ice cream and watched as we took turns trying to juggle. The boys were thrilled, though Isaac was getting tired and cranky.

Another busy day in our new city!
